Template letter to get new interest and legal help:

Dear all:

We are writing this letter on behalf of One Laptop per Child, in order to request your support and administrative help in collecting information about the status of copyright protection of works available to OLPC through its volunteers, partners, and public repositories.

Given our open source and free content licensing policy, requiring free licenses for works we directly distribute through our project, we would like to categorize the feedback and information we have regarding these works. In particular, we would be very interested in knowing who owns copyright and image rights for each one.

We would very much appreciate your help in sorting data related to the copyright protection status of works contributed to our mission, and those sitting uncertainly in the archives of our partners, to promote education through the provision of free content and free knowledge.

We are very interested in discussing further with you about this initiative.

Thank you very much in advance.

Sincerely,

The OLPC Community licensing team
