1. What do others say about OLPC?

2. How are OLPC XO-XS deployments being evaluated?
3. Can't the 164€/XO laptop + 36 €/portable PV panel be better used, partly for food, health and cheaper education stuff like books/papers/pencils/blackboards? Alternative uses of the money spent on an XO
4. Are you aware that the XO hasn't been used anywhere in the world, and that its real usefulness is unknown?
   1. Peru, Uruguay, many Island state have a full OLPC XO-XServer combination roll out since 2010. Australia is also on track to go for a full roll out.
   2. The idea of bringing knowledge rather than giving charity money, rather than giving fishing rods or whatever equipment, is a very long standing idea. Finally with wifi bridging the last mile separating those who have the knowledge to where the knowledge is needed, a milestone has been crossed. The OLPC XO-XServer combination is considered by many to be one of the best tools - open software and open hardware - to bring that knowledge to those who need it, to allow these people to appropriate learning itself.
   3. The OLPC XO-XS combination has been tested just about everywhere in the world, just about any culture, etc. The project has a very steep learning curve, probably faster than any other. It's been supported by many universities, top specialists as individuals that give their time, knowledge and energy. The OLPC XO-XS educational initiative is supported by UNESCO, Kofi ANAN as well as Ban KI-MOON, the two Secretary Generals of the UN.
   4. If not, what is your greater idea?
5. The XO has been built around the constructivist educational model. Are there any plans to incorporate such perspective into our educational system? Which are those plans?
6. The cost of each computer, without any servers, maintenance nor support plans, is currently estimated at USD 175. Initial orders are for 250.000 units, which translates into an initial investment of USD 43.750.000. Is this amount budgeted? What is going to be left out for this investment, if anything?
7. What is the estimated amount, all included, to provide all schoolchildren with an XO? What is the estimated Total Cost of Ownership? How long is it expected to work?
8. Is there an implementation plan? How are we going to provide a computer to all students? How long is it going to take?

   2. First there are OLPC Schools and test-schools and regions identified. OLPC Schools are places where teachers, the public, the press, etc. can come to, where there are typically some 100 XO's, some XServers and a professional staff to give workshops, demo's, where everybody can have a hands on experience on what these XO's actually feel like, how the user experience is alone or im combination with the XServer, time for FAQ's, developing material specific to the country/region's educational implementation of an XO-XS deployment.
9. Are there any specific groups to be prioritized? Or everyone will be provided?
10. The OLPC project assumes that the computers are the property of students. What is the transfer regime?

15. Is there any relationship between the XO computers and the Plan Huascarán (an old program, by the previous administration, sort of left to rot by the current one)?
