Initial XO notes (in three parts): I: RANDOM (AND LIKELY USELESS) REACTIONS AND THOUGHTS: II: INTERACTIONS WITH THE XO, or WHAT I NEED[ED] TO KNOW: III: COMMENTS ON AND SUGGESTIONS FOR THE MANUAL

I: REACTIONS:
An idle XO makes an excellent alternative light source.
Can one adjust the brightness (and possibly thereby increase the battery life)? I'll poke around later.
Wireless is great, except when all the nearby networks are encrypted or mesh.
II: COMMENTS ABOUT THE XO:
What do the circles represent? When I want to connect, do I click once or twice? Nothing much seems to happen when I click; the circle blinks for a while, but I don't seem to have gotten connection.
What is a mesh network? Are the mesh networks visible on the screen actual networks which are inactive, or... they must be something, but they seem to be useless. Adding certificates is messy. It's good that the warning exists. The interface is pretty rough, though. When the certificate is installed the earlier window stays front and center, and doesn't really tell you whether the certificate got installed or not. Better that it go away and be replaced by something proclaiming success or failure, but not for this build.
III: COMMENTS ABOUT THE MANUAL:
The photographs and diagrams are very helpful.
When I earlier tried to look at the ~seth version each section seemed to be only one page, and the few pages I did see didn't seem all that useful. Either there is a problem downloading more than one page, or... taking another look. OK, there's a lot more now. Surely it existed before. Could the problem have been bandwidth downloading to the XO from One Cambridge Center? But also the earlier page didn't look as if it had been half-loaded, though the bottom of the page did have (only) the beginning of a list. Odd.

"You *may* want to charge the battery"?! I thought it was important to charge batteries fully the first time they are used - but then again my knowledge of battery specifics is minimal.

Enough for now; it's not much, but sleep beckons.
