Training materials

Where are the documents and lesson plans for the teacher training? Is there some reason not to publish them?

No reason... I am gathering some materials and encouraging others to publish what they've already developed. --Walter 20:47, 24 March 2008 (EDT)

Community Preparation

"community needs to know what one laptop per child means—the children are your best ambassadors."

This statement runs contrary to my own experience. The teachers are the best ambassadors. The community values their expertise otherwise they wouldn't send their kids to school in the first place. As Walter and I have discussed in person, the real -- and tremendous -- benefits of OLPC will manifest in the long-term and not necessarily in the short term. We need full buy-in from the teachers themselves from the onset. Berrybw 11:33, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

Evaluation

"Prior 1-to-1 laptop experiences have demonstrated tremendous gains in learning"

There is little quantitative research that supports the above statement and IMHO that is the primary obstacle to the expansion of 1:1 computing programs. We need quantitative research to prove to the naysayers what we ourselves know to be true. Berrybw 11:33, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
