Eshbik Egypt/Lukman Arsalan

Mr. Lukman Arsalan, born and raised in Jordan, works as the Development Officer for the Middle East at The ArtReach Foundation in Atlanta, GA, USA. Prior to that, he worked at the Commitments Department at the Clinton Global Initiative / William J. Clinton Foundation in New York, NY. Mr. Arsalan also served as a Communication Strategist for the State of Arkansas’ Governor’s Task Force on After School Programming in Little Rock, AR. Additionally, he worked as a Leadership Mentor for 55 U.S. Department of State Middle East Partnership Initiative exchange scholars from 15 Arab countries for the Center for International Studies at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE for three consecutive summers since 2005.

While in Jordan, Mr. Arsalan co-founded YouCanLead.org, a youth activist based leadership movement, and raised more than $42,000 to conduct leadership trainings for 55 University students across Jordan, teaching them leadership skills in economics and entrepreneurship. He also created and led community collaborations and partnerships between the United Nations University – International Leadership Institute, King Abdullah II Fund for Development, University of Jordan, Hashemite University and the U.S. Embassy in Amman that led to greater community outreach. His international experiences are not only limited to his extensive travel (Egypt, Japan, Jordan, Tunisia, United Kingdom, United States of America) but also due to the fact that he speaks four languages (native fluency in Chechen and Arabic, fluent in English, functional in Hebrew) and is learning his fifth, Japanese.

Mr. Arsalan completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Jordan in Computer Engineering in 2007 with a focus on Infrared receiver and transmitter technology. His technical experience includes working for software consultancy firms, database programming and management and website design. Currently, he is completing a Master of Public Service with emphases on Information and Communications Technology and Education at the Clinton School of Public Service – University of Arkansas in Little Rock.

Mr. Arsalan will serve as the technical support focal point on the ground in Egypt should his team receive the grant from OLPC to implement “Eshbik Egypt: Building International Schools Consortium.”
