These instructions are used in many places. If you wish to edit them, please do so carefully, and then check every place they are used. In particular, things to watch for are:

• the language should be simple and straightforward,
• there should be no repetition,
• use emphasis sparingly, the procedure is already scary enough,
• anything specific to a laptop model (e.g. XO-1, XO-1.5, XO-1.75) must be protected by a conditional clause,
• avoid anything not actually tested, especially for older firmware versions,
• specific target groups (such as volunteer testers, community developers, support gang, g1g1 owners, or deployments) should not be mentioned or handled here ... create a page for them instead.
