Web-based software models are expected to greatly enhance the range of services available to olpc devices, as software no longer needs to be distributed or installed. Moreover, with web-based software, much of the functionality can reside on servers while the feature or function that is of immediate need resides and operates within the browser sandbox.

This is prompting several members of the olpc project to begin to rething about how best to create and distribute computing resources.
