To update an OLPC, follow the steps below:
- Copy to a PC/laptop the files attached here. In the same list also include .usb and .toc (not contained in the file due to their size)
- Insert a flash drive into a USB port and execute sudo make_flash.sh. Τhe script will then format the flash drive, will name it olpc and copy to it all files necessary to perform an update.
- Alternatively, if you don’t have Linux, format your flash drive into FAT32 and copy the files manually.
- Insert your flash drive into the XO-1 and execute sudo olpc-update –usb in the terminal. Wait while the software and firmware are being updated (approximately 20 min.)
- Execute sudo python /media/olpc/update.py. Select Yes when required.
- With the XO-1 plugged in to power supply AND with battery installed, reboot to complete the firmware update.
- Connect to open mesh and select Activity Update. The update is now complete.
