Generations all must be online

Sincere congratulations to OLPC and Nicholas Negroponte. I left an executive position in corporate America to help to overcome the access, skills and intimidation for seniors to the Internet &emdash; now seven years later we have brought new meaning to the lives of tens of thousands of people in their 70 &endash; 80s 90s 100s (oldest user turns 104 on Monday) throughout 48 states and Canada. Next steps: England, India and the EU. Anyone interested in spearheading a non-profit distribution of Generations on line (www.generationsonline.org) kindly contact me: Tobey Gordon Dichter; tobeydichter@att.net.

One issue regarding OLPC and the "silver-haired" generation is the size of the display: while it will be relatively high resolution (~200 DPI in eBook mode), it will be small (only 7" diagonal), which means the density of information per page with large fonts will be relatively low. Other than that, I think it will be a nice experience of the elderly. FYI, if you have never seen it, check out The Melrose Mirror, which just celebrated its tenth year of publication.
