I'm new to the project -- I just signed up for a Give One Get One on November 28, 2007. This particular page appears to be the preferred way of getting a development environment, and I'm wondering if it shouldn't be more prominently displayed higher up in the wiki hierarchy.
Just as an added note, it seems that the X Server installation can collide with the Fedora 7 X Server. A yum install xorg-x11-server-Xorg seems to do a trick, though.
