Our activation server is now off.  To turn off the security system of an OLPC XO-1, XO-1.5, XO-1.75, or XO-4 laptop, install our [[Persistent_developer_key_firmware|persistent developer key firmware]].

== 18th September 2023 ==

Our virtual server hosting activation.laptop.org has been turned off.

Our antitheft.laptop.org server remains running.  Queries to this server happen automatically from some laptops.

== 24th October 2022 ==

Production of new OLPC XO laptops ceased in 2017.

Due to cost and declining demand, we plan to turn off activation.laptop.org, the web app that gives out leases and developer keys for OLPC XO laptops.

If any organisation wishes to fund maintenance of this app, please contact us.

== 1st October 2021 ==

Our [[Persistent_developer_key_firmware|persistent developer key firmware]] was made available to disable the security system.  This makes our activation server unnecessary.
