I figured it out: edit the Firefox.py file inside your activity so that the full path to firefox is included (mine was /home/olpc/firefox/firefox). Thanks a ton!

Just thought I'd throw this out there: here and elsewhere on the web there are a lot of people warning about the performance of Firefox on the XO. I installed it today (though not the activity), and with 9-10 tabs open it still ran better than two instances of Browse (which is to say, not bad at all). Beyond just offering tabs, you can bookmark "the old fashioned way" (sans Journal), etc.

So I was playing around today and I got firefox somewhat "sugarized." Meaning, that it shows up as an activity in your launcher, and clicking it fires up firefox. No more opening terminals to run it.

You can install the activity by pointing your XO's browser to http://nyquil.org/videos/FirefoxActivity-1.xo but the activity does NOT include firefox itself. You must install firefox by your own means.

  • I've made a Firefox icon for Sugar, you can included it in your activity if you like: Firefox activity.svg it looks bad after converted to PNG, the original one should be OK. --BobChao 05:32, 21 February 2008 (EST)
    • forgot to mention: the logo comes from here. --BobChao 05:34, 21 February 2008 (EST)

I have firefox working great via the wiki, and I have your awesome firefox activity, but I'm not sure if I have to place my firefox install inside your activity to get it to launch? Can you offer a little help here on integrating a working firefox install with your activity? - taylor
