Bicycle generator hubs

Since I'm a newcomer here, and don't yet know the internal etiquette/OLPC culture on this wiki, I didn't want to post to the article page, but it occurs to me that some of the generator hubs and flywheels might offer some interesting powering possibilities whether attached to a bicycle or not.

Just wanted to point out that bikes could charge the XOs while they're moving, but also while they're stationary!

As you can see from this photograph of a typical bike here in India, the kick stand is locking (see the spring near the rear wheel hub?). This means that someone can sit on the bike while the kick stand is engaged and locked, and the bike will be a relatively stable platform while they pedal it!

We just need to hook up a power line from the generator to the OLPC and you could pedal for a few minutes at school before your walk home. (there's generally a bike here at our school that could be used for this).

Does anyone know what kind of a setup we'd need to rectify the power coming from the dynamometer?
