This organization was replaced with or renamed to Earth Treasury in late 2006/early 2007. A page of sample letters for people to send to their favorite US government officials inquiring about the status of the OLPC initiative and why the US government hasn't gotten on board just yet. Sample Letters Dear Representative, I have just participated in the Give One Get One program with OLPC (One Laptop Per Child). This program allowed me to get an XO laptop for my daughter and to donate one to a child in a developing country. You can go here to find out more information: http://laptop.org/ I would like to see the USA get involved with this by ordering these laptops for our schools. Please let me know what you think of this program and how we could get these laptops into US schools asap. I would like to help make this a reality. These machines could drastically help our country with the "No Child Left Behind" initiative.
I look forward to hearing your comments. Thank You
"Governor Crist received your e-mail and asked me to respond on his behalf. This certainly sounds like a good program. I will forward this information to the attention of the Governor's staff. Thank you for writing and do not hesitate to write again on matters of concern or interest to you. Sincerely, Rex T. Newman Citizen Services" |
