** '''Name''': Quantum key distribution with the XO
** '''Description''':
as shown on the Chaos Communication Congress in Berlin, where people from the laptop project have been showing up, it might be in reach to run a quantum optical experiment, e.g. a quantum key distribution with the XO machines. Also the violation of Bell's inequality would be feasible if our software runs on the machines. This project could show the capability and power of the machine. All required software packages were running fine. The final bottleneck might be the performance on the fast fourier transform, which is needed for an exact synchronization of the machines.
The outcome would be published in newstickers like slashdot / heise.de etc. This outcome would be our personal goal. Scientificly this step is not important. It might be a synergy to push the XO-project into some more positive publicity, and also to announce again that our quantumcrypto-stuff is now open source.
For the scientific background see e.g.: http://arxiv.org/abs/quant-ph/0606072 or http://events.ccc.de/congress/2007/Fahrplan/events/2275.en.html

*** We request three (3) XO-laptops, and two active antennas two machines actually do the job, but to be on the safe side a third one should be in reach. The quantum-crypto works usually over a distance (some kilometers) - so the repeating antennas would be nice
