Revision as of 02:22, 28 June 2014
OLPC has begun qualification of a new camera sensor SIV121C for the XO-1, XO-1.75 and XO-4 laptops.
Problem
The released operating system does not have a driver for the SIV121C sensor, so new laptops or old laptops with cameras replaced with the new sensor will not work with the camera. The Record activity will show a blank image.
Solution
XO-4, XO-1.75 and XO-1 only:
Upgrade the kernel, see below. This solution will be included in 13.2.1. For earlier releases of OLPC OS, please upgrade to a new release.
To upgrade the kernel, start the Terminal activity and type this:
sudo yum install -y kernel
And then shutdown and reboot.
XO-1.5
The SIV121C sensor is not supported and does not work on the XO-1.5, because the motherboard provides a 48 MHz clock, and the sensor requires a maximum 27 MHz clock.
