Revision as of 21:14, 5 January 2008
A few pages on the wiki, those in, are protected from anonymous or new-user edits. You can still edit the talk pages of protected pages, and suggest updates or changes; and you can request protection of new pages, or unprotection of protected pages, below.
Protection
If you encounter a page that is being vandalized repeatedly, or that shouldn't be edited by new users, please list the page for protection below.
Protection in most cases should be for only a few days, until immediate vandalism or edit wars die down. Pages that are in the limelight for a short period of time should not necessarily be protected -- the wiki encourages direct collaboration, and these prominent pages can be the best places for people to start. On the other hand, while editors should generally be bold, sometimes there's noone around to help with mediating an edit war, and quick protection is the only way to go.
Requests for protection
Please list the name of the page and any details below, and sign your request with ~~~~.
- Main Page -- can we protect this further, so that linked images and templates are covered by the same protection? Sj talk 02:30, 12 December 2007 (EST)
Unprotection
If you want to edit a protected page, you can request that it be unprotected.
Requests for unprotection
