Custom Builds Discussion

Walter - What do Peru and Mexico want?
- Need a build at the end of this week, Release Candidate
- Spanish language is required
- Specify the order of the activities
- Specify which activities -- doesn't matter if they have extra activities, especially if they can order them
- Content bundles that they want
- Need to ensure that mime types and make.py (to remake the library) will work.
Wants laptops coming out of the factory to be a good user experience. Can we agree to this being possible for any countries who will provide the customization.
The customization key is good because pilots get a chance to decide which activities to try out on the laptop. If they want to put licensed bits on, they can do it with this customization key. It can be a one or two-stage upgrade and customization, then activation. It is a good 'prototyping' device.
Dennis - the customization key doesn't use the correct rpm packaging. Squeak should be considered a language that is installed with the base. Java is not installed in the base image; but could be installed later.
What are we doing to support Peru and Mexico this week? And what is the long term view of how countries are going to get involved in their own builds.
Peru is willing to touch the laptops once in Lima for upgrading; then at the school for activation.
May need an automatic rpm to .xo or other tools to make it easier in the long run for countries to add these packages to their customization keys.
Put the plans (requirements) into a public place for review/plan.
