Deployments
- ecbp begins deployments in Ethiopia (photos). The 5,000 XO laptops were donated to Ethiopia as a result of the 2007 Give One Get One promotion.
- Waveplace has done pilots in Nicaragua (video, reports), Florida (NPR story, video), Haiti (videos), and the Virgin Islands (videos, reports). Watch our Waveplace Awards show to see children from each pilot greet each other and the world.
- Academic Commentary authored by OLE Nepal Education Director, titled "Tackling the Problems of Quality and Disparity in Nepal’s School Education: The OLPC Model."
- Laptop Training Begins in Peru
- Our Deployment Guide is now posted to the wiki. Please help us improve it.
- Astounded in Arahuay — Ivan describes a followup visit to the site of Peru's 8-month OLPC pilot.
- The Inter-American Development Bank will finance a pilot project testing one-to-one computing with OLPC in Haiti (the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere). They are distributing XOs to 13,200 students and 500 teachers in 60 Haitian primary schools.
- Our Mongolia project is the first deployment made possible by the generosity of the Give One Get One participants. Many thanks from OLPC and the Mongolian children to those who contributed through the program.
