Kernel error during boot

One time out of four boots I got a kernel trace:

PID: 018, comm: mmcqd Tainted: G ...
 Call Trace: __schedule_bug
 schedule
 trace_hardirqs_off
 do _softirq
 do_exit
 print_lock_contention_bug
 ... lots more
 kenrl_thread_helper

I pressed a few keys and it continued to display Unable to find persistent overlay: using temporary but is now hung for real.

On power-off and back on, it worked fine.
