Sugar is in early development stage, it can change faster then these instructions.
At this point, you need to be fairly skilled with UNIX environments to get Sugar up an running. There are some skeletal instructions for [[Setting Up a Sugar Development Environment on Ubuntu Linux]] that you could use as a guideline.

If you do get [[Sugar]] up and running on your *IX system, please update this page with some more details but try to keep it as general as possible. For instance it is sufficient to tell people to install one of the [[Python]] packages or to go to [http://www.python.org/download/ the Python website] and install the latest source tarball. People should be expected to know what package types work on their system and what package tools and ports libraries they can use to install standard stuff.
