- Mary Lou may already have a design for this --DyD
- Ultrabright LEDs
- High resolution, high colour LCD
- Diverging Lens?
- USB to LCD processing ICs
- USB micro controller
- USB to digital graphics converter
- LCD controller
The 25 dollar USB measuring unit and sensors
The 50 cent AM radio receiver
- MK848
- Analog processing for control of tuning cap
- Tuning cap
- Ferrite
- Coil
- USB powered
The 1 dollar AM radio transmitter
- Crystal or Ceramic Resonator
- audio transformer for modulation
- USB powered
The Environmental Monitoring Dongle
- CDS
- Generic
- Thermometer
- MCP9700
- Humidity
How to do it
- Via an AVR micro controller with USB, ADC, and/or DAC
- avr-gcc, avr-libc and avrice
- Via the 5v@500ma offered per USB port, with a total of 1A
- Soft limit via power rail; it is not necessary to follow proper USB 2.0 protocol and/or complete a USB handshake
- Via the mono mic-in/stereo audio out, see Audio hardware
- Via the unused channels on the AD188 chip
- Via the Measure / Oscilloscope Activity
