Project Aim - To test the accuracy of the "Acoustic Tape Measure" activity on the XO laptop and attempt to find ways to resolve accuracy issues based on our results.
Project Collaborators -
- Arjun Nayini (IMSA Chapter)
- Spencer Andrews
- Ashwin Ugale
Experimental Design -
- Experiment 1 - Use "Acoustic Tape Measure" to measure pre-set distances and check the accuracy. Repeat this 3 times at each pre-set distance and over multiple different pre-set distances (1m, 2m, 4m, 8m, 16m, 32m).
Results -
- Found a linear relationship between the actual distance between the computers and the program's calculated distance.
- y = .9941x - .0178
- r^2 = .9999
Distance of 16m did not display results that were at all accurate. After a certain point somewhere above 10m the program is no longer accurate.
