Maine and Georgia have similar programs using conventional laptops. As Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney called for XOs in MA schools. This is not part of his presidential campaign. |

If your school has the ability to make purchasing decisions independently of state education programs, then you could buy a set of laptops through the [http://www.xogiving.org Give 1, Get 1] program. If course, this means that you will simultaneously be funding a school of equivalent size in a developing country as well. |

I'm a computer consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA USA... If I can make the time to, I am considering starting a project in Marin City- Sausalito, CA HUD housing and/or Richmond, CA and/or Oakland, CA these would be urban rather than rural environments. I thought this would be a good way to increase OLPC's visibility in the US media as well as Internationally. An OLPC international Pal (penpal) vitual exchange student program or a OLPC sister/brother Sibling school concept was one of my inspirations. |
