I am quite unhappy with the software my XO (G1G1) came with. From what I have read I want to try installing Ubuntu.
But the WIKI Ubuntu On OLPC XO assumes one already has access to a computer running UBUNTU. I don't.

I have my XO and a PC with windows 2000. Is there a way to do what I want with these?
I created a USB disk with Ubuntu OS using the wiki Installing Ubuntu on XO from compressed files.
thanks

However, the boot process fails with the message,

Filesystem is ext3 but partition type is 0xb (should be 0x83).

However, I definitely did enter t and 83 when I ran fdisk during the creation of Ubuntu OS on the stick.

Can anybody help?

thanks,

Rao
