A ''USB update'' means to use a [[USB drive]] to update an OLPC XO laptop.

The concept is broad:
* using a USB drive to ''install'' a release, which erases all existing data on the XO,
* using a USB drive to ''update'' or ''upgrade'' from an old release to a new release, which preserves most of the existing data on the XO,
* using a USB drive to ''reflash'' firmare, and;
* using a USB drive to add activities,

A USB update means to use a USB drive to update an OLPC XO laptop.
