Remote support procedure for unlocking a laptop.

Ingredients

Recipe

  1. ask the owner to follow your instructions for collecting, (which you can do by referring to this link, or by attaching the .zip file to your mail and making a copy of the instructions),
  2. wait for them to send you the laptops.dat file,
  3. open laptops.dat,
  4. check that the third number is a correct year, and if not see Fix_clock for other things to worry about,
  5. treat the first number as a serial number and the second as UUID, and enter them on OLPC Activation Service, and follow the instructions there to generate a developer key,
  6. send the develop.sig file to the owner, asking them to follow your instructions for unlocking, (by referring to this link),
  7. wait for them to respond.
