Remote support procedure for unlocking a laptop.
Ingredients
- e-mail skills,
- copy and paste skills,
- a downloaded copy of CollectionStick.zip
Recipe
- ask the owner to follow your instructions for collecting, (which you can do by referring to this link, or by attaching the .zip file to your mail and making a copy of the instructions),
- wait for them to send you the laptops.dat file,
- open laptops.dat,
- check that the third number is a correct year, and if not see Fix_clock for other things to worry about,
- treat the first number as a serial number and the second as UUID, and enter them on OLPC Activation Service, and follow the instructions there to generate a developer key,
- send the develop.sig file to the owner, asking them to follow your instructions for unlocking, (by referring to this link),
- wait for them to respond.
