Another way to use the clipboard function (i.e., to cut and paste) into the terminal is to attach a 3 button USB mouse. After you have copied text from the screen (usually Ctl C), when you go to the command line in the Terminal activity and click your middle button, the text should be copied successfully.

The Terminal activity gives a simple command prompt similar to that provided by the Developer Console.
