Internships
This provides an overview for various OLPC internship programs that are available.
Internship Philosophy
OLPC views internships as relationships carried out over a span of months or longer between OLPC and people who are interested in developing themselves by tackling problems relevant to the OLPC mission. Many of these internships have been technical in nature but some of been conducted in other domains such as deployment, legal affairs, and content development. Most internships have been conducted on a volunteer basis; some have been funded by OLPC or its partners, and a few have led to full-time employment. Some of the internships take place at the OLPC offices in Cambridge and most involve a close working relationship with an established member of the OLPC community (who is sometimes but not always an OLPC employee). Finally, many interns have been involved in the OLPC community both before and after their internship.
Current Opportunities
OLPC is currently recruiting for several Tech internships this summer, working on some of the core technical and software needs of the graphical, network, and security stacks.
OLPC is also mentoring interns through the 2008 Google Summer of Code program. More details will be published here soon. In the meantime, please see Summer of Code for additional information.

Making New Opportunities
OLPC is working on solutions to some of the world's most challenging problems and it recognizes that people who are motivated to pursue these problems come from many different backgrounds, have different goals, and different needs. If you have recognized an unforeseen problem or have developed a novel approach to a known problem that fits within the bounds of the OLPC mission, consider proposing an internship based on your problem.
