<CanoeBerry> Hi!
<CanoeBerry> Contributors Program meeting starting here in just a couple min :)
<CanoeBerry> Please help us review 11 projects within the hour!
<CanoeBerry> OK, agenda should now hopefully be in your email boxes..
<CanoeBerry> Specifically: http://lists.laptop.org/pipermail/devel/2009-July/024985.html
* FGrose  has joined #olpc-meeting
* mafe  has joined #olpc-meeting
<CanoeBerry> Hi FGrose & mafe :) In answer to your earlier questions, all CP projects that are approved as useful ship out anywhere worldwide legally possible..
<CanoeBerry> (not Syria, North Korea, Sudan, Cuba, Iran due to US law)
<CanoeBerry> Let's try to be superquick this wk, ok?

[ PROJECT #1 : Small Solutions Big Ideas - MASSACHUSETTS, USA ]

<CanoeBerry> Starting w/ Project #1:
<CanoeBerry> Small Solutions Big Ideas - MASSACHUSETTS, USA
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43314
<CanoeBerry> http://smallsolutionsbigideas.org
<CanoeBerry> Requests 8 XO's for 2 months
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> Immediate objective is to raise awareness in Newburyport in order to raise money to set up a pilot project in a Kenyan village.
<FGrose> CanoeBerry: I'm sorry, I wasn't interested in the past, just some idea of available supply and current mechanism
<CanoeBerry> I personally approve since the applicant (Papert) and his partner have already done great work.
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: you got your answer I hope.
<CanoeBerry> If not let me know.

[ PROJECT #2 : Nunnery Education, experimental model - NEPAL ]

<CanoeBerry> Let's move onto Project #2:
<CanoeBerry> Nunnery Education, experimental model - NEPAL
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43434
<CanoeBerry> Requests 3-4 XO's indefinitely
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> The objectives of this project may seem ambitious. Jennifer desires to teach 60 nuns ages 6-15 basic computer skills, show them how to use the XOs, and integrate the XO education programs into the nunnery's existing curriculum in 6 weeks. Most likely, a follow-up volunteer will continue the work that Jennifer has started as it will be difficult to teach so many children these skills to the fullest with only a few XOs. However, if the project succeeds and both the nuns and full time teachers are receptive to the technology's integration into the curriculum, we may ask for more computers in the future. Depending on the effectiveness of existing programs, Jennifer may try to develop specific Nepali ESL programs for the purposes of this project, and if this occurs, she will definitely share the data with OLPC.
<CanoeBerry> This project has been somewhat controversial judging from volunteers comments so far.
<CanoeBerry> Can we get some more input yeay or nay?
<mafe> about this project ...can they be redirected to ole-nepal?
<CanoeBerry> It already has.
<CanoeBerry> OLE Nepal is not interested.
<CanoeBerry> See the ticket.
<CanoeBerry> The question is whether we are willing to support their risky endeavor.
<FGrose> No other backup or references?
<CanoeBerry> ChristophD being part of OLE Nepal for the summer :)
<mafe> why not....
* asaf  has joined #olpc-meeting
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: that's correct, no references really, except a passionate individual from Brown University
<mafe> we help them take the risk ...and support them ....on this learning curve
<FGrose> I just don't want them to get lost in the mail
<CanoeBerry> The proposal is certainly long, but BJordan and ChristophD are not impressed.
<CanoeBerry> Likewise CBigenho not impressed.
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: not understanding your comment..what's lost in the mail?
<mafe> they are not impressive because it's not a technical ....and community driven proposal....
<FGrose> not reaching the recipients
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: what not reaching the recipients?
* dsaxena  has joined #olpc-meeting
<FGrose> The XOs
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: where is your concern arising from?
<FGrose> She only had a P.O box
<CanoeBerry> I see.
<mafe> are we not interested of helping them explore the xo?
<CanoeBerry> And she would have to pick them up far from their destination. Hmm.
<mafe> that's the challenge...
<CanoeBerry> I wanted to propose 1 XO, but this proposal has a lot of problems.
* bz_g  has joined #olpc-meeting
<CanoeBerry> The applicant would have been better to pick up an XO when she was still in the Boston area over the past month :(
<CanoeBerry> Hmmm
<CanoeBerry> Let's get some consensus and move on.
<CanoeBerry> Votes?
<mafe> 1 xo is ok
* sdziallas  Quit ("Ex-Chat")
<FGrose> and ask for better shipping assurances
<mafe> yes
<CanoeBerry> Not clear she wants 1 XO, but we could ask. FGrose is correct that complexity of shipping could be a particular nightmare in this case. Perhaps it would be better to ask her to revise.
<FGrose> agreed
<CanoeBerry> Let's put this proposal on hold. Unless Mafe wants to mentor the applicant to get a cleaner shipping address and stronger plan?
<CanoeBerry> Quickly if so as the applicant is only in Nepal for less than 2 months, yikes :)
<CanoeBerry> mafe: ok? we need to move on.
<CanoeBerry> Project #3:
<mafe> si
<mafe> let's explore more of them few emails will do
<CanoeBerry> mafe: let's decide together.. you can make the call if applicant clears up a couple of the numerous extreme challenges around her idea.

[ PROJECT #3 : Moroccan Model XO Lending Library - MOROCCO / UK ]

<CanoeBerry> Moroccan Model XO Lending Library - MOROCCO / UK
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43486
<CanoeBerry> http://lists.laptop.org/pipermail/olpc-uk/2009-July/000336.html
<CanoeBerry> Requests 10 XO's initially?
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> Full proposal not yet written (British Moroccan Society)
<CanoeBerry> OLPC UK is offering them 1 XO to explore/refine their idea.
<CanoeBerry> This proposal needs further consideration.
<mafe> don't want to deprve them from their passion...ok...CanoeBerry: ok...agree
* dances2  has joined #olpc-meeting
<CanoeBerry> OLPC UK has explored it, and it similarly need refining -- thankfully OLPC UK has offered them an XO in person in London to begin to make this happen.
<CanoeBerry> A 10-XO library might be possible if they beef up their story?
* dwmw2 is now known as dwmw2_gone
<CanoeBerry> Any other conclusions?
<CanoeBerry> If not let's move onto Project #4..
<bz_g> One minute, I'm checking the information above...
<bz_g> ok
<CanoeBerry> Seems the British Moroccan Society is actually borrowing 2 XO's in London, which is great.
<bz_g> OLPC France have been contacted by someone who wants to start something in Morocco.
<CanoeBerry> Let's hope they build upon this and develop a real plan for a library or otherwise in Morocco later..
<mafe> and after that ...they need to refine their proposal ?
<bz_g> Apparently there is no relation with the British Morocco Society
<CanoeBerry> bz_g: great.. can we put both groups in contact with one another?
<bz_g> Who is their contact at OLPC UK?
* sdziallas  has joined #olpc-meeting
<bz_g> Can someone from OLPC UK send me follow-ups about this?
<CanoeBerry> dsd if you believe: http://lists.laptop.org/pipermail/olpc-uk/2009-July/000336.html
<bz_g> CanoeBerry: I think it's a bit premature
<CanoeBerry> OK.
<bz_g> CanoeBerry: here is the situation:
<CanoeBerry> Keep in touch (holt @ laptop dot org) if you hear more :)

[ PROJECT #4 : Journal for Sugar 0.86 - RUSSIA ]

<CanoeBerry> onto Prjct #4:
<bz_g> (ok)
<CanoeBerry> Journal for Sugar 0.86 - RUSSIA
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43584
<CanoeBerry> http://git.sugarlabs.org/users/alsroot
<CanoeBerry> http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/User:Alsroot#Todo
<CanoeBerry> Requests 1 XO for 24+ months
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> Support several projects http://git.sugarlabs.org/users/alsroot
<CanoeBerry> including core parts of sugar for example Journal for 0.86 release cycle
<CanoeBerry> Run activities in native XO environment, check performance
<CanoeBerry> and other XO related issues.
<CanoeBerry> This looks great.
<CanoeBerry> Any objections?
<mafe> im go as well...
<FGrose> Provide 2 so he can test collaboration
<CanoeBerry> Applicant is a very active contributor to Sugar Labs..
<bz_g> +1 (on FGrose proposal, not on the 2)
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: can you mentor, asking if he wants 2 etc?
<FGrose> sure
<CanoeBerry> Great, please take the ticket: http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43584
<CanoeBerry> Approved.

[ PROJECT #5 : GreenThumb - PHILIPPINES ]

<CanoeBerry> Onto Project #5:
<CanoeBerry> GreenThumb - PHILIPPINES
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43621
<CanoeBerry> http://thegreenthumb.blogspot.com
<CanoeBerry> Requests 2 XO's for 10 months
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> Generally, this project aims to develop a Sugar activity that
<CanoeBerry> can provide teachers an alternative way for demonstrating fundamental
<CanoeBerry> genetic concepts. This project also aims to inculcate, within the child, the
<CanoeBerry> importance of the environment, how relationships and interactions between
<CanoeBerry> plants, animals and humans can change (harm or make better) the world.
<CanoeBerry> Specifically, the project focuses on achieving the following:
<CanoeBerry> 1. To devise a game design incorporating mesh networking to achieve a
<CanoeBerry> mechanism for sharing of ideas, discussion and collaborative learning.
<CanoeBerry> 2. To design a system architecture for efficient use of memory in
<CanoeBerry> implementing simulation processes.
<CanoeBerry> 3. To develop a simple, easy-to-use, adaptable and fail-soft User
<CanoeBerry> Interface encouraging creative exploration among its users.
<CanoeBerry> mafe: do you want to introduce?
<mafe> the proposal...it's very specific. and im +1 with carl's comment
<CanoeBerry> mafe means "Caryl"
<CanoeBerry> +1
<mafe> yes
<CanoeBerry> We've got the votes, any objections?
<mafe> to think these girls are remotely situated in an Island....
<CanoeBerry> 2 academics / students -- let's make sure they perform :)
<CanoeBerry> mafe will keep them honest, right?!
<dances2> greenthumb.glogspot.com isn't useful at all
<dances2> blogspot.com
* Retrieving #olpc-meeting modes...
<CanoeBerry> dances2: good point
<mafe> dances2: why ?
<dances2> http://thegreenthumb.blogspot.com/ seems spammed to death
<CanoeBerry> mafe: can you ask them right away to do a reality-check on (a) mesh-networking and (b) genuinely connecting with our community, anywhere they prefer online..
<CanoeBerry> to give them final approval?
<mafe> CanoeBerry: i'll d that...
<CanoeBerry> Let's say "Conditionally Approved"
<mafe> *do
<CanoeBerry> THX MAFE

[ PROJECT #6 : Using the XO Laptop to Teach Agriculture and Science - KENYA ]

<CanoeBerry> Onto Project #6:
<CanoeBerry> Using the XO Laptop to Teach Agriculture and Science - KENYA
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43607
<CanoeBerry> Requests 10 XO's
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> 1. To teach abstract concepts using illustrations from the XO laptop
<CanoeBerry> 2. To teach the children about different farming methods and tools using the XO laptop.
<CanoeBerry> 3. To develop XO videos showing different livestock breeds and crops.
<CanoeBerry> 4. To develop a weather chart using the XO for children to help teach them how to monitor the weather.
<CanoeBerry> Caryl suggests they start with 1 or 2 XO's.
<CanoeBerry> Noting this is just the 1st of 5 projects proposed out of Nairobe, Kenya's "Hands of Charity"
<CanoeBerry> We will review the 4 following in a minute, but let's keep the individual ideas from each of these 5 proposals/teams separate..
<bz_g> (3am in China - bye all!)
* bz_g Quit ("ERC Version 5.3 (IRC client for Emacs)")
<CanoeBerry> bz_g: thanks & bye!
<mafe> 2 XO's will do...
<mafe> thanks bz_g
<CanoeBerry> I will now paste in Caryl's comments into the public record here as they may help focus this project:
<CanoeBerry> I would like to know more about the people doing this project. Are they Ag scientists?
<CanoeBerry> Teachers? or what? What is their experience in Ag? Education?, Computer Sci?
<CanoeBerry> What school will they be doing this with? Do they have approval? Are the teachers,
<CanoeBerry> administrators, and parents on board?
<CanoeBerry> This curriculum could be an excellent model for similar curriculums world wide. However, I'm
<CanoeBerry> not sure they can pull it off. At this point is seems very nebulous, with too many things going
<CanoeBerry> on. They need to narrow their focus to start. They can expand later.
<mafe> what I'm not sure about this project is their obj #5...
<mafe> I mean #4
* dsaxena_away  has joined #olpc-meeting
<mafe> maybe they're just thinking of incorporating it in ..not really an XO app...
<CanoeBerry> mafe: You mean the weather chart?
<mafe> yes
<CanoeBerry> OK, let's wrap up #6 here (Kenya Prjct #1).. conclusions?
<mafe> this is more of content / activity developement
<dances2> specifics like humidity, rainfall, temp, % sunshine?
<CanoeBerry> I suggest: let's get answers to Caryl's above questions (and Mafe's) before approving.
<CanoeBerry> Then we can fine-tune how many XO's are appropriate.
<CanoeBerry> OK?
<CanoeBerry> Too many loose ends here.
<mafe> yes...
<CanoeBerry> dances2 & all: ok?
<FGrose> as proposed
* dsaxena  Quit ("Konversation terminated!")
<dances2> ok, like the ag part, not sure about qualifications as another stated, but i'm a newbie on this chat
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: do you want to clarify what you mean?
<FGrose> sorry as you proposed in this chat
<CanoeBerry> Thx!
<CanoeBerry> dances2: if you want to mentor any of these projects, plz tell me!
<CanoeBerry> That's the best we can do for all these applicants if you have time later (holt @ laptop dot org)

[ PROJECT #7 : Using XO Technology Awareness on HIV/AIDS among children ages 4 – 16 - KENYA ]

<CanoeBerry> Onto Project #7:
<CanoeBerry> Using XO Technology Awareness on HIV/AIDS among children ages 4 – 16 - KENYA
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43608
<CanoeBerry> Requests 10 XO's
<CanoeBerry> 1. Develop a curriculum to address the absence of good HIV/AIDS in Kenyan education by using the XO interactive and individualized learning environment .
<CanoeBerry> 2. By the end of the program children should be able to know the nature of HIV/AIDS and various ways of contracting the disease; describe the negative effects; evaluate and make decisions about the ways to prevent the spreading of HIV/AIDS
<CanoeBerry> 3. Students will discuss and learn what it means to live with HIV/AIDS or have parents who are ill.
<CanoeBerry> 4. Identify support groups and organizations
* dsaxena_away is now known as dsaxena
<dances2> CanoeBerry: (get my own project off the ground before mentoring, just asking questions at this point)
<CanoeBerry> dances2: got it :)
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: thanks for point out how active this similar (HIV in Mozambique especially) project is: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/User:Jumpbean
<CanoeBerry> Similarly HIV in Tanzania XO project: http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=38094
<CanoeBerry> Caryl endorses this Kenya Project for 10 full XO's, despite some objections..
<dances2> my cousin died of aids, not sure how I'd explain it to a 4 yo. seems like a need, given perception in US about AIDS in africa
<CanoeBerry> Their team of 5 and timeline appear to be strong.
<CanoeBerry> dances2: agreed -- but 4-year-olds infected with HIV at birth need to understand at some point?
<dances2> true. send to committee of health group, if they approve, go ahead?
<CanoeBerry> Which committee?
<mafe> again this is a curriculum development and awareness of the objectives ....where in XO serves as the medium..
<dances2> health subgroup of XO project. not sure how formal it is, just an idea
<CanoeBerry> dances: OLPC Health is no longer as active as in the past, but good idea.
<dances2> (ok, me be quiet now.. ;-/)
<CanoeBerry> I can ask some of the principals from 2008, but let's try to form an initial decision (up or down) right now :)
<CanoeBerry> Who's willing to suggest a verdict?
<dances2> up
<CanoeBerry> Agreed, I think we can give this project a chance.
<FGrose> I'd say yes, but I'm wondering about a suitable mentor
<mafe> I think the 10 XO's for the whole group will do...
<mafe> 2 for each project....
<CanoeBerry> I would like the 3 different HIV projects to mutually mentor if they'll consider.
<CanoeBerry> (Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania)
<dances2> co-mentoring sounds good
<CanoeBerry> mafe: we are proposing 10 XO's for this 1 individual project. please don't jump ahead just yet if you are discussiong projects #8 #9 and #10?
<mafe> dances2: are you co-mentoring this project?
<CanoeBerry> Any firm objections to 10 XO's for project #7 (HIV in Kenya) here?
<dances2> mafe: the idea of the HIV projects supporting each other as mentors
<CanoeBerry> I will try to facilitate the 3 HIV project groups cross-pollinating. I'll take any help I can get! The 3 groups being:
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43608 Kenya
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=38094 Tanzania
<mafe> CanoeBerry: oic 10 for this project alone....
<CanoeBerry> http://wiki.laptop.org/go/User:Jumpbean Mozambique
<CanoeBerry> Approved.

[ PROJECT #8 : Primary XO Curriculum for Kenya: based on early primary basic skills: reading and writing - KENYA ]

<CanoeBerry> Let's move on to Project #8:
<CanoeBerry> Primary XO Curriculum for Kenya: based on early primary basic skills: reading and writing - KENYA
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43610
<CanoeBerry> Requests 10 XO's
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> 1. This XO laptop project will be formulated based on the Kenyan curriculum of primary school education.
<CanoeBerry> 2. To teach children between the ages of 6 – 14 years basic reading and writing skills taking advantage of the engaging exploratory aspects of the XO
<CanoeBerry> 3. To personalize learning such that pupils learn independently
<CanoeBerry> 4. To make the subjects and lessons student centered
<CanoeBerry> 5. To improve grammar through dictionaries, spelling, pronunciation through voice recording
<CanoeBerry> 6. To make learning fun such that students get more interested rather than bored during lessons
<CanoeBerry> 7. To improve students’ communication skills
<CanoeBerry> 8. To improve pupils grades in English and other subjects
<CanoeBerry> 9. Learning will be made easier or rather practical through the use of diagrams and pictures
<CanoeBerry> I'm not sure what to say here..Caryl's summarizes my concerns about the vagueness of Project #8 here:
<CanoeBerry> How will they do this with only 10 laptops? Are the children going to share in the classroom?
<CanoeBerry> Who gets to take them home?
<CanoeBerry> While this sounds like a great idea if they could have one laptop for each child, but with only 10
<CanoeBerry> it is difficult to see how it will work.
<CanoeBerry> Perhaps they could re-work this into a library type project for a target school.
<mafe> where are they piloting this?...with Makini primary school?
<mafe> yes...this looks like a pilot test bed...
<CanoeBerry> It appears they have 6 or 7 teachers involved.
<CanoeBerry> I meant: 6 or 7 teachers/students leading the proposal.
<CanoeBerry> Proposal needs refinement, eh?
<CanoeBerry> Let's ask them to revise, answering Caryl & Mafe's questions, ok?
<dances2> ok
<CanoeBerry> Objections?
<CanoeBerry> Onto Project #9 if not..

[ PROJECT #9 : Using the XO Laptop to Aid Teaching of Mathematics - KENYA ]

<CanoeBerry> OK, let's review Project #9 now:
<CanoeBerry> Using the XO Laptop to Aid Teaching of Mathematics - KENYA
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43623
<CanoeBerry> Requests 10 XO's
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> The primary goal of this project is to develop a project that will aid teachers in Kenyan Primary Schools teach the basic concepts of Mathematics in sync with the Kenyan Primary School syllabus using the XO laptop. The specific objectives of this project are:
<CanoeBerry> 1. To improve the ability of children to memorise and enhance the use of the basic Mathematical operations, that is +, -, ÷ and × using the XO laptop applications.
<CanoeBerry> 2. To improve children’s ability and understanding of the measurement and calculation of area, circumference and perimeter of 2-dimensional figures and the Surface Area and Volume of 3-dimansional objects with the aid of the XO laptop.
<CanoeBerry> 3. To aid the children in the proper understanding of the topics of ratios, percentages and proportions according to the Kenyan Primary School syllabus.
<CanoeBerry> Caryl suggests providing 5 XO Laptops to cover each team lead here.
<mafe> can they incorporate this with project8....
<CanoeBerry> I like the specificity here, that they're chosen a tight topic area, and a concrete goal.
<CanoeBerry> I am concerned about blurring projects together. Too much cloudiness already :)
<CanoeBerry> But sure, if the applicants later propose a revise curriculum or Activity set, great.
<CanoeBerry> Caryl summarizes:
<CanoeBerry> Good team. Ambitious project. Heaven knows we need some ideas for applications of the
<CanoeBerry> Sugar software to help in the teaching of basic math.
<CanoeBerry> But, how will they do it? Have they already identified the Activities they would use? Again, a
<CanoeBerry> very nebulous project which needs a narrower focus, especially for the short timeline they
<CanoeBerry> are proposing.
<CanoeBerry> Also, again, 10 laptops don't seem like enough for a wide distribution of the project.
<CanoeBerry> Perhaps just working with one class would work.
<CanoeBerry> I suggest we send them a smaller number of laptops for curriculum development. Then
<CanoeBerry> when they have something ready to use in a class, they can pick one class and ask for the
<CanoeBerry> rest of the laptops (maybe even more than 10) to implement and evaluate their project with
<CanoeBerry> just one class.
<mafe> but the objectives of this is almost the same with project 8: ...int hat way they
can maximize their effort as well share their ideas but still concentrated to the specific subjects..like teachers training...then curriculum development...
<mafe> then implementation....in their respective subject area....
* dirakx Quit (Remote closed the connection)
<mafe> they can do curriculum and teachers exploration first...so XO's for the teachers first will do
<CanoeBerry> Maybe, but Caryl & I strongly prefer concrete focused achievable goals. There is too much lofty visioneering.
<CanoeBerry> I suggest we close out Project #9 here with 5 XO's.
<CanoeBerry> The team can obviously readjust on the ground.
<CanoeBerry> Can we move onto the final project now?
<mafe> sure...
<CanoeBerry> Let's keep Project #9 in mind here, in we can help being conducive to one real star (whichever!) that would be best.

[ PROJECT #10 : Kenya Primary School Special Needs Curriculum - KENYA ]

<CanoeBerry> onto Project #10:
<CanoeBerry> Kenya Primary School Special Needs Curriculum - KENYA
<CanoeBerry> http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=43624
<CanoeBerry> Requests 10 XO's
<CanoeBerry> Project Objectives:
<CanoeBerry> 1. To create a curriculum based on the Kenyan syllabus for Standard 1 & 2 using the XO Activities and learning tools for special needs students.
<CanoeBerry> 2. The create a curriculum that will implement the learning tasks of basic math, reading and writing skills with XO available tools selected and adapted for the teaching of special needs students.
<CanoeBerry> 3. To improve the learning retention and reduce frustration so that the student can building confidence, bridge his learning gap and fully participate in a normal classroom.
* dances2  Quit ("CGI:IRC (Ping timeout)")
<CanoeBerry> Reactions to Project #10 above? My initial reaction is to be concerned...
<CanoeBerry> The goal are way too high-level it worries me.
<CanoeBerry> *goals
<CanoeBerry> Other reactions?
<FGrose> I share those reactions
<FGrose> Has there been other communications with this Kenya team?
<CanoeBerry> Special needs kids need the utmost, and it doesn't sound like the OLPC/Sugar community is quite ready to help right here in this case.
<CanoeBerry> FGrose: no, they did not respond to my email.
<CanoeBerry> Send 24hrs ago..
<CanoeBerry> *Sent 24rs ago..
<mafe> interesting to know since they'll be developing syllabus for kids with special needs
<FGrose> Hold for more responses.
<CanoeBerry> mafe: can you mentor one of these 5 Kenya projects?
<CanoeBerry> And if so which has the highest potential?
<CanoeBerry> I think we should conclude our meeting at last :-)
<CanoeBerry> With a BIG thank you to all who lasted 1.5hrs!!
<mafe> ok the primary curriculum
<mafe> Project #8 and #9...
<CanoeBerry> Thanks, bye all!!!
* jamaal21  Quit ("Page closed")
<mafe> ok thanks everyone...
