An Open Hardware Project is a hardware project - e.g. developing the most suitable laptop for kids of the age group 5 to 15 years, as OLPC is doing - that is evolving thanks to a multi-disciplinary team's free time, energy and competences that are available in society.

Bringing Universal Primary education via the XO laptop is such an initiative and in the international not for profit OLPC, a group of people have organized themselves to organize that Open Community Initiative.--SvenAERTS 08:52, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
