What is the SPCPA O.L.P.C Initiative?

The St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists One Laptop Per Child Initiative is a student-run laptop lending library that provides free laptops from the non-profit charity organization One Laptop Per Child to SPCPA students without computers in the home who would benefit academically from being able to rent out these laptops for a duration of one week at a time.

Our faculty advisor is Mr. Grossklaus, Dean of SPCPA. We have 10 XO-laptops, and any student at our school is welcome to borrow one for a 1-week period by signing out a laptop in the back office of the Landmark Center or by contacting Mr. Grossklaus. Any updates regarding what our group has done or what our latest news is will be posted on this webpage.

Mission Statement: We believe that access to technology can change lives and benefit the greater community. Any SPCPA student is welcome to borrow a laptop.

Oxboro Library Summer 2010 Project School is out for the summer, and we don’t want the computers to go to waste! We are lending the 10 XOs to the Hennepin County Oxboro Library over the summer. There, tons of kids from the community come during the summer to use the library’s computers. Making these laptops available will benefit both the students and the community.
