== welcome == Welcome :-) In case you need some help getting around the wiki, see [[OLPC:Welcome]] and [[Help:Contents]]. --[[User:Sj|Sj]] [[User talk:Sj|<font style="color:#f70; font-size:70%">talk</font>]] 03:32, 10 February 2008 (EST) == battery questions == we had some questions about available equipment for [[Off grid power]] - are solar panels going to be available for commercial purchase soon, or will we have to special-request testing samples from somebody, and so forth... along with some blank spots that don't have info yet. If you have a moment, could you take a look and fill in, and ping up the [[IMSA]] crew? thanks! [[User:Mchua|Mchua]] 04:19, 10 February 2008 (EST) : Ah! thanks for the corrections. Especially to what seems to be my bad 4am math (for some reason I was thinking "Ooh, P=IV!" - must sleep more.)[[User:Mchua|Mchua]] 15:55, 10 February 2008 (EST) == New firmware page creation == When you create a new [[firmware]] page, it would be helpful if you included a release date in the introductory sentence. (are you using a template to autofill the text? I can show you how to include it in a template if so -- you can insert a timestamp automatically with five tildes: <nowiki>~~~~~ or can custom compose a date using magicwords such as {{CURRENTMONTH}} )

- The release date is already on the firmware page. I suppose you are talking about the page with the specific details of the release?
- We do have a template on that page but I'd like to add a template for updating the URL and a few other things. Many times the release date doesn't match the edit date so I don't think I can do it automatic but I can add a date in the first section.
- Yes, that's what I had in mind. Also an explicit link back to the Firmware page itself (perhaps directly to the Firmware#XO-1.5 section). My concern is that sometimes people find an outdated comment with a deeplink to the 'latest firmware version' which is actually not the latest. (I did it a couple times recently, leading to my thought :) --Sj talk 19:09, 4 May 2010 (UTC)</nowiki>
