- This page should be renamed or merged with OS images for emulation
This page outlines how to load the Sugar OS into a virtualized computing environment. This porting to virtual machines allows the Sugar OS software to be run on basically any hardware that supports the virtual machine.
This is another option for doing what is described on OS images for USB disks
To download a pre-packaged OLPC laptop:
- Download Moka5's LivePC engine for Windows
- Install the engine. The install for LivePC will ask if you want the host to save data to an external hard drive (like a USB drive) or to the desktop. When the installation is complete, the host machine will have Moka5's application which is a platform built on top of EMC's VMWare Player.
- Download an OLPC build from Moka5 directly via their distribution server
- Launch LivePC engine by clicking on the
*.lpc
file that you just downloaded
To create your own installation:
- Follow the steps above
- Click on "Create" at the bottom left of the application interface
- Load the Sugar OS ISO LiveCD. For a test I just downloaded the latest ISO and tried it
- Run the Sugar OS installer from within the newly created LivePC
- Save the LivePC state machine
