The Knight Foundation is working to further local news creation and writing through a series of grants. A Wikinews proposal from 2006 was set up to help build out local WikiNews offices. Discussed: how to unify existing proposals to find and create very local content, in a way that integrates neatly with WP as a stemword resource.
