Currently we have achieved the following:
Successfully test Mesh connectivity
Up to the B2 OLPC models mesh networking was not enabled out of the box. Following the wiki([1]) we were able to connect one OLPC to internet (wifi) and use it as a gateway for the OLPCs.
Updates machines with the new build and firmware (available)
Weekly check the updates on Wiki and laptop.org. When ever new updates are released all available OLPCs ([2]) are upgraded and the new builds are tested rigorously.
Helix Media Activity
In older OLPCs helix media player was not installed. Following wiki we were able to install it and play different audio video files. ([3] )
Local language (Urdu) customization
As of B1 there was no support for urdu language in OLPC. After discussing available fonts and keyboards crulp ([www.crulp.org]) was used to provide support for urdu language in OLPCs. In fact starting from B2 machines there was urdu content provided in OLPC library.
Open source quran software (Zekr)
Zekr is an open source Quran browser built upon java platform. With the help of zekr's creator Mohsen we were able to run Zekr on B2 machine. There are some optimization which need to be carried out to fully port Zekr on OLPC. Also there is a need to convert this software as a proper OLPC activity.([4])
During this period we continuously experimented with its different activities. This includes etoys, OLPC Library. Currently we are also setting up OLPC Pakistan's separate portal under the web address www.olpcpakistan.org.
