The search on this Wiki treats FORTH as a common word, and won't search for it. This needs to be fixed. I can't find the places where I used the name in order to convert them to links. Oh, wait, I can use Google with the search

I'm still unhappy about the extra work.--Mokurai 23:49, 21 October 2006 (EDT)

Userland Forth?

As I understand it, the only Forth being distributed with the XO is the one driving its firmware, but the "Forth for Education" section of this page suggests that Forth could be useful in the user space as well, letting the user learn Forth and write small, fast activities. Can the firmware Forth be used by the user as well? Or has any thought been given to providing a user space Forth on the XO? —Joe 10:46, 2 September 2007 (EDT)

Mitch Bradley and others have suggested enhancing Pippy, an activity for experimenting with Python, so that it works with other languages such as Forth. It is a very low-priority task though, considering all the other work left to do on the software. Mitch has also extracted the core of Open Firmware into a Linux application which runs in the Terminal. I've added a link to it. --IanOsgood 10:59, 18 November 2007 (EST)
