Description

From the International Children's Digital Library website:

"The ICDL Foundation's goal is to build a collection of children's books that represents outstanding historical and contemporary children's literature from around the world. Ultimately, the Foundation aspires to have every culture and language represented so that every child can know and appreciate the riches of children's literature from the world community."

Languages

The ICDL has books in 41 languages including Arabic, Chinese (simplified and traditional), English, Tagalog, French, German, Hebrew, Mongolian, Farsi, Portuguese, and Spanish representing 56 countries.

Size

The library's master collection, the largest collection of its type in the world, currently consists of over 5,000 children's books, over 1,200 of which are currently online free of charge and free of advertising. An up-to-date list is here: http://www.childrenslibrary.org/icdl/TextSearch

Scope: The world's largest online children's literature repository of all genres representing many cultures and languages.

Completeness: A nice selection, but only 5000 books so far.

Multilingualism: 41 languages including, but not limited to Arabic, Chinese (simplified and traditional), English, Tagalog, French, German, Hebrew, Mongolian, Farsi, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Quality: Varied, but spectacular children's picture books.
