Mabuhay! Welcome to OLPC Philippines

OLPC Philippines (OLPC PH) is a grassroots coalition of forward-looking and like-minded individuals living in the Philippines and abroad who are working to bring the ideals of OLPC to Filipino children. Please join and share your ideas - we're still very much in the formative stages, so people who are eager and willing to jump in are very, very welcome.

Groups

  • eKindling (Education Kindling) is an educational non-profit based in Manila, Philippines and has evolved from the OLPC-PH grassroots movement to officially carry the OLPC initiative in the country.
  • PCOLPC (Philippine Collaborators for OLPC) is a group of Filipino-Australians based in Sydney, Australia.

The First Philippine OLPC school pilot

The first Philippine OLPC school pilot is currently being deployed at the Lubang Integrated School at Lubang, Mindoro. This is in cooperation and partnership with:

This project was made in honor of Mayor Sanchez former leadership of the NCC.

An initial 100 XO 1.5-laptops were distributed to Grade 4 students of Lubang Integrated School and Maligaya Elementary School and was formally launched on Dec. 6, 2010. Members of the media were invited to cover the event, along with DepEd Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro.
