just wanted to say I edited the most recent update which was using "paranoid" in reference to Wi-Fi routers. I think they were referring to encrypted Wi-Fi (WPA password protected) so I just replaced the proper words. I don't think routers can feel extremely fearful (ie: paranoid). :)

Any new news on fulfillment? Ordered Dec 31, no laptop as of Mar 13.

YOU HAVE SO COMPLICATED THE PAGES TO SIMPLY FIND OUT WHEN I WILL RECEIVE MY LAPTOP ORDERED NOV. 24, 07.

ORDER REFERENCE NUMBER [MOD: redacted] [MOD: redacted] [MOD: redacted] [MOD: redacted]

TEL: [MOD: redacted]

I AM SORRY THAT I EVER ORDERED FROM YOU. IT IS NOW JANUARY 19, 2008 AND I STILL HAVE NOTHING. THE NEXT COMMUNICATION WILL BE WITH THE PUBLIC MEDIA!

Dear OLPC Management,

The frustration expressed at such locations as http://olpcnews.com/forum/index.php should have been the first clue something was incorrect.

Secondly, a review of management reports should have shown that the incoming funding was inconsistent with the orders shipped.

Third point, a simple apology instead of an excuse is long overdue.

Please do the right thing and issue a public apology to your supporters. It is safe to say a number of people will simply walk away at the seemingly unprofessional PR way that this has been handled.

To the anonymous person who posted the above

They already issued an apology. Get over yourself.

How sad. I just saw a college university course that has the OLPC shipping issue as a case study on how not to treat a donor or customer base. It is a shame that this shipping and mis-communication is having such ramifications to the overall project.

Hopefully Pixel Qi has learned from this situation and will do a better job.

Hey, wanted to thank y'all for the comment about GMail, my info got filtered too (two e-mails, how strange, that's never happened before.) I just wanted to add that the same happened to me, and thank you for commenting. I'm so excited to try this thing out. -Stephen

confusion over some comments-

Quote: "The remaining Give One Get One orders pose an extra challenge, as they either have incomplete or no shipping and contact information, or they fail to show up in the ordering system at all." This is the part I don't understand - I've spoken to OLPC's customer service line several times, and each time they had my full, correct address, which is residential, NOT a PO box, and tests as deliverable on the FedEx website. Quote: "If you have not yet received your XO laptop, you should be getting an individualized email that addresses your specific situation." This is another one that confuses me- I got the same "individualized" email that everyone else got. Interestingly, both times I called OLPC, I was told that my laptops were in the warehouse, about to ship, and now I'm told that they are backordered, waiting for american keyboards. Will they at least come with build 653, or are they still shipping build 650?
