Educational technologist, specialised in M-learning (mobile learning), open source software and sustainability.
Since 2005 he has his own small company Kennismakelaar.info (= Knowledge broker). Via several websites he offers specialised knowledge, hardware, software and content: Edupaper.nl (= services around mobile devices like electronic paper) Dokeos-Nederland.nl (= services around an open source electronic learning environment) Simpleliving.nl (= information how to reorganise your life and to enjoy what you already have instead of buying new things only for satisfaction. Just starting up now)
Untill the first of Januar 2008 he was project manager and educational technologist at the Open University of the Netherlands (www.ou.nl ). Responsible for several commercial blended learning projects in profit and non-profit organisations in the Netherlands. In 2001 he was one of the founders of the high-tech centre LEX, the learning experience (www.lex.ou.nl ).
Before joining the OU NL in 2001 he was senior projectmanager for the Expertisecentre ICT (www.eict.nl ), the link between business and educational institutes.
From the end of 1999 until 2001 he was Manager Academic Services in the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU, www.eadtu.nl ).
Until he joined EADTU in November 1999 he has worked as assistant projectmanager for “Gilde-HBO”, a new combination of higher education and working in a relevant job: concurrent education. This project was coordinated by the polytechnic of the Hague. www.gilde-hbo.nl / www.hhs.nl
From 1988 until 1998 he was teacher of physics and ICT at a secondary school in the Hague, HML, who uses the Montessori method. www.hml.nl Already in 1995 he was using the internet and a year later Active Worlds (3D World).
He studied Physics and Biology (professional education) in Utrecht and Educational Sciences in Leiden and is fluent in Dutch, English and German.
Frits is volunteer in several organisations: OLPC NL http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Netherlands LOSS = platform in Limbourg for Open source software, open standards and other open innovations (content, lines, etc). Frits is member of the board. http://loss-platform.org/ Jong Leren = network of public primary schools in Limbourg. Frits was member of the board.
