with a mazy motion

Adding languages to Speak activity

Speak broken in joyride due to numpy move -FIXED

Hi jminor,

In case you get to fix this before I do, in the latest joyride (I'm running -2271) Speak is broken because numpy's been removed in favor of numeric:

All fixed now (Trac #7852) .

Want to add Nepali language in Espeak.Help me out!!

Hi, I'm working for OLE Nepal.Currently I'm working on speak and I want to add Nepali language on speak.Please help me.

We have already added the Nepali Language in espeak which, as far as I know, speak is based on. How long do you think it will be before these changes are incorporated in the Speak activity. 120.89.117.55 08:49, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

If you've added it to espeak, then it should appear automatically in Speak. Do you see the new language listed when you type "espeak --voices" into the Terminal? jminor

The Nepali language is currently present in the latest version of espeak v1.39.15. It had been part of espeak for about a week. I currently have the latest Speak (v.9) in the XO but cannot see the Nepali language there. How do I sort of 'merge' these changes in espeak with speak?. My objective is to make the Speak activity speak in Nepali. Thank you. Pradosh

Speak asks espeak which languages it supports by running "espeak --voices" so if you have the new espeak installed on your XO, then Speak should notice it automatically. You can do this on your machine for testing by just adding the new language files to /usr/share/espeak-data/ and /usr/share/espeak-data/voices/. espeak is included in the base operating system release, not as part of the Speak activity, so if you want the new version released for everyone you should contact devel@lists.laptop.org to get guidance on how the latest version can be included in upcoming releases of Sugar. jminor
