Get IMSA students on the wiki

Howdy, Scott! We should get the IMSA students on the wiki - since you're already familiar with the syntax of mediawiki and the wiki culture, would you mind helping some of the students get their feet wet in it? I'm not sure how many of them have prior wiki experience. Mchua 01:38, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

I am making this a requirement for my SIR advisees and IMSA OLPC affiliate leaders, and strongly recommended for all IMSA OLPC affiliate members (which can be strengthened to "required") by the student leaders should they so choose. I will help in any way necessary. — ScottSwanson 19:13, 19 September 2007 (EDT)

Measure and Medical Applications

Im trying to get the community organized on (a) Medical applications around the XO (b) Measure activity learning activities . It seemed to me that the IMSA chapter has some interest in both of these! Let me know! (email me on my email id given on my user page) Thanks! --Arjs 00:38, 11 January 2008 (EST)

Thanks for the fantastic conference call. I think there's a lot of good interaction ahead; our students our very psyched to keep this alive and explore it further! -- ScottSwanson 02:33, 23 January 2008 (EST)

Chicago OLPC Grassroots Group meeting

COGG meeting on Jan 22, Google Chicago. Spread the word. A better email announcement will be coming out pretty soon once we finalize everything. As far as Ian and I know, it's the first real gathering of OLPC enthusiasts in the area. Mchua (also added IMSA to my userpage, thanks for the remind.)

Is there a page or URL for this yet? -- ScottSwanson 10:11, 11 January 2008 (EST)
Completed; amazing success. Time to nuke this from the "forthcoming" portion of my page, though. -- ScottSwanson 02:34, 23 January 2008 (EST)
Thanks for coming all the way out, Scott! The presentations were amazing, and I think everyone was super-impressed by the work you've all been doing (even without the "wait, high schoolers did this in two weeks?" stuff, your projects are *cool*.) Hope the Google food was enough to feed hungry teenagers who skipped dinner. And yes, OLPC Chicago is on my userpage now -you're better at monitoring it than I am! ;-) Mchua 03:40, 23 January 2008 (EST)

tinylanguage

Pointed Meg towards TinyLanguage (also discussed on the olpc-chicago list) but you might want to give folks a few gentle pokes to get some collaboration (and documentation) going. Mchua 00:09, 28 January 2008 (EST)

Thanks!

People can come by and play with it anytime if they want, too--or I'm good with loaning it out overnight, over weekends, etc. If anybody who lives in 02 contacts you and only has time after check; you know. People come in and play with the XOs all the time, especially if they bring a laptop by for help.  :-D Ahw 12:24, 7 February 2008 (EST)

off grid power notes are up

Off grid power should be up to date with the stuff I've pieced together... your turn! Mchua 04:19, 10 February 2008 (EST)

off grid solution for a summer camp

Hi Scott, I am a Russian OLPC volunteer currently working on preparing a pilot OLPC summer camp in Russia. Together with my colleagues from OLPC-Netherlands we are writing a grant proposal to one charity foundation and chances are that we will receive 15 XOs that we need for the summer camp. Having a way to re-charge the XOs would be a great support to our project as many of our activities will be carried out in off-grid conditions. As I see from the "Off grid power" article you might be a person who can come up with a sort of advice about the kind of solution for the off-grid XO batteries recharging. Are there any solar based available solutions at the moment, for example? - Best, Biarm - 13 February 2008
