Presenters wanted Feb 2008

From Chris Brown's email - contact him at cmbrown at mac dot com.

Each February we run an in house all day conference - this year the focus is on technology. We have a keynote speaker, Will Richardson, who will run clinics throughout the day. Teachers from our district are giving concurrent sessions on a variety of tech topics. I am still putting together a final schedule but I will definitely do a presentation on the OLPC whether it is just me or we have group of xo laptops. I would be happy to lead the presentation but you and members of olpc-chicago probably have a better understanding of the program than me so if someone would like to discuss what is happening in the olpc countries or give an overview of the program from the inside that would be great.

You are certainly welcome to spend the whole day with us but that is not required. I am thinking we would do 10:30- 11:30 presentation and then mesh/collaborate through lunch give all the faculty a chance to mingle with the mesh and see how it works. We could even start at 12noon with the mingle/mesh and a presentation 1-2pm - we'll see what works best with schedules. Free lunch is provided.

Originally when I thought about this I'd just like to have anyone who has an xo and would like to demo how a group of these machines can work together. Teachers, programmers, people like yourself that have interned with olpc would be a great bonus and would really enhance everyone's knowledge. Teachers at our school would just like to look around and watch a group of xo users collaborate and maybe hop on a machine and give it a go. They may have questions, for instance our science teachers were interested in battery life and powering the machines in the participating countries - things like that. Anyone that could answer questions better than me as an outsider would be well received.

I would like people who can attend to RSVP - I would think a group of 10-15 folks would work nicely - could handle more but would like to have control over how many attend as I don't want it to get too large.

The event is at my school address is Marie Murphy School, 2921 Illinois Rd, Wilmette, IL 60091.
