ICDL and OLPC have worked most closely together defining projects for Brazil and sharing libraries in Mongolia. The entire ICDL library is almost 100GB, so questions of producing subsets for specific schools are important. In Mongolia, there is a separate READ project which has a server image of ~250 Mongolian and En-Mn books packaged for offline use, with their own interface.

Offline libraries


 School servers, spare drives
 Network hardware to enhance network in rural areas if possible (for slow upload/download of additions)


 A set of books and interfaces in specific languages, fit to the XS school server.
 Localization component : so it can switch between en/mn.
 Language learning : interface to emphasize texts that 
   a) originally bilingual, 
   b) have been translated by the community/others (via dotSub or other system)
 Customization component : a way for schools and librarians to add books and name collections
 Bundling toolchain : interfaces and scripts to choose and download a collection to an XO
 Sharing component : a way to share sets of named collections from one (offline) school to 
   the global ICDL library, and v-v.
 Localization component : tools to help the community (say bilingual students) localize any ICDL book
