Apropos of the section on cow power, I wonder if have you investigated the use of Methane produced from fermented cow manure?

This is a very sustainable practice that has been widely implemented in rural India. The gas has dual use - it can either power a modified diesel generator or be used as fuel in the kitchens. On account of the scale of deployment and the cheaply available parts the cost of such a setup is usually lower than any custom solution.
