Use eSata as the way of adding external storage.

It is way faster, cheaper and more reliable that USB.

It is pretty new but should be mature by the School servers are deployed in numbers.

Has anyone considered using this for the school servers? http://www.fit-pc.com/new/index.php

Low power consumption, water/dirt resistant, and seemingly powerful enough for this application. Would just have to be outfitted with a wireless adapter.

(Note: I'm not in any way affiliated with this company. I just came across the product while surfing the web) Jprice 09:35, 18 December 2007 (EST)

Update the Hardware Spec?

It is my perception that OLPC no longer intends to use the XO as a server. Whoever is responsible pls update this page with what OLPC currently intends to use for the hardware.
