To replace the firmware in the XO, you should replace the file usb8388.bin in the /lib/firmware/ directory and either reload the usb8xxx module or reboot the XO.

To reload the usb8xxx module:

rmmod usb8xxx; sleep 1; modprobe usb8xxx
