Spam attacks

Dear Sarah,

I'm sorry your user and talk pages came under attack, it was probably some sort of bot that used a bunch of different IP addresses to layer defacement on top of defacement to try to make it harder to clean up. I blocked the addresses responsible, but that has little long term impact because they can just chose another IP. There *is* the option of offering you semi-protection of your user page, this would prevent anonymous IP addresses from making edits, the down-side of this is that it would also prevent an anonymous (but not malicious) user from reaching you via your talk page. You can leave a note on my talk page if you would like to make such a page-protection request. Cjl 16:51, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
