Jack (Connection Kit) is an audio server that can be used by applications for accessing the audio device and also sharing audio data (software connections). It has also some support for MIDI. Jack clients can be connected together, as well as access the soundcard. A network client, NetJack can be used to send audio data over an IP connection. Although it is not the current plan to support Jack, because of a chain of dependencies, the software is present in the OS. It will be possible to test it and compare to other possible servers, such as PulseAudio.
